Rüsselsheim is well-known for the Opel-Factory. The fact that Rüsselsheim was also an important fortress town for centuries, due to its strategic location on the lower course of the Main, is demonstrated by the historical sites, where you will also discover the town and industry museum and the late romantic Verna-Park. The roughly 3,000 students of the Rhine-Main University of Applied Sciences lend youthful esprit to the city of 60,000 residents. Theaters, museums, sports facilities, shopping malls and recreation areas all invite you to unwind. The centers of the Rhine-Main-Neckar region can be just as easily reached from Rüsselsheim as the Bergstrasse and the Odenwald. To the west of Rüsselsheim is one of the most beautiful German wine regions of Rheinhessen, with picturesque little villages such as Trebur.
